We’re delighted to share that our colleague Angel Carrasquillo has published groundbreaking research on eastern oyster populations in aquaculture.

His study examines the population genetics of eastern oyster populations (Crassostrea virginica)as well as the phenotypes of survival rates, growth patterns, and disease resistance of these populations, informing the creation of selective breeding programs.

As consumer demand for seafood continues to rise, this research makes significant contributions to sustainable aquaculture development. We invite you to read the complete paper (paywall) to learn more about the genetic and phenotypic analysis that could shape the future of oyster breeding.
