Marie leads Xelect’s global operations, driving innovation in aquaculture genetics and breeding programme design for producers worldwide. She holds a Ph.D. in Atlantic salmon biology from the University of Stirling’s Institute of Aquaculture, Reproduction and Genetics Group.
Marie brings over a decade of experience in aquaculture genetics, having worked with leading industry players such as Mowi and Biomar, and has managed complex breeding programmes across multiple species. Her expertise spans genomic selection, data analytics, and precision aquaculture, combined with hands-on fish husbandry skills.
Since joining Xelect in 2017, Marie has progressed from Breeding Programme Manager to Head of Breeding Programmes, and now oversees the company’s strategic direction as Global Head. She is passionate about helping producers realise value through sustainable genetic gains and improving resilience in aquaculture systems through cutting-edge science and technology.
