We are pleased to announce the appointment of experienced geneticist Dr Paolo Ruggeri who will be joining our lab team as Scientific Officer from 1st June. Paolo has a PhD in population genetics and strong academic background in marine genomics and molecular biology. He has broad experience in DNA preparation, genotyping and modern sequencing techniques, as well as the analysis of genetic data.
Paolo recently left a Post-Doctoral
position at CNRS-Sorbonne at Roscoff, where he studied Algal genomics under an
EU funded research programme. Prior to that he worked at London’s Natural
History Museum, studying population genetics of aquatic ecosystems.
At Xelect, Paolo will be principally involved with the genotyping of clients’ samples, using our Illumina sequencer, and he will assist in the computation of genetic parameters of breeding programmes. He will play a central role in our genetic marker discovery activities and our various R&D programmes. His blend of analytical skill, coding knowledge and laboratory techniques make him an exciting new addition to our team.
Paolo’s appointment to the company has been delayed because of the COVID-19 situation, but finally he has a start date and is ready to help us continue to grow the business into the future.
