Rachael leads Xelect’s laboratory services team with strategic oversight and over a decade of experience in molecular biology and population genetics. She holds a Ph.D. in Evolution & Behaviour from the University of Lethbridge in Canada, and has developed advanced technical expertise across a broad range of molecular techniques, including modern sequencing technologies.
As Head of Laboratory, Rachael provides decisive leadership in designing, managing, and continuously improving Xelect’s laboratory operations. She ensures that all workflows meet rigorous quality standards, enabling efficient, reliable, and scalable delivery of our genetic services. In addition to her operational leadership, she plays a key role in overseeing the company’s innovation initiatives by supporting the development, validation, and implementation of new molecular tools, improved workflows, and emerging technologies that enhance the precision and impact of our client’s selective breeding programmes.
Rachael’s leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence in aquaculture genetics have been recognised internationally, including her selection for Hatchery International’s “Top 10 Under 40” Award, marking her as a standout leader and rising figure within the industry.
