Carlos brings extensive expertise in aquaculture genetics and breeding programme design to global aquaculture operations. He holds a multidisciplinary degree in Marine Sciences and an M.Sc. in Aquaculture and Fisheries from the University of Cádiz, as well as a Ph.D. in Marine Ecology from the University of the Balearic Islands.
With a strong background in managing selective breeding programmes and implementing advanced genetic improvement strategies, Carlos has worked across a diverse range of finfish species, including seabream, seabass, meagre (among other mass spawner species), salmonids and tilapia. His experience spans the integration of genomic tools with practical broodstock management to deliver measurable genetic progress and improve production efficiency.
